Simon Hitchcock

Managing Partner

I am a founder and Managing Partner of Horizon and have responsibility for the strategy and management of the firm. With my fellow partners I set up Horizon to be a specialist provider of equity capital focused on Business Services and Technology Companies with ambitious plans to grow in the UK and beyond.

I started my career in the Corporate Finance team at PwC, having graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in Business Administration. I moved into an investing role early in my career as I wanted to work with management teams beyond a deal. I now have nearly 20 years investing experience and in that time have had the privilege of working with some exceptionally talented management teams.

Jeremy Hand

I’m Chairman of both Horizon Capital and its Investment Committee.

My role is both fascinating and a huge privilege – from meeting new management teams and investors to helping unlock the true potential of our portfolio companies. Each day presents new opportunities and the chance to share experiences, network and offer practical help as well as growth capital.

At Horizon, we partner with hugely talented and entrepreneurial managers. Helping them achieve their ambitions is definitely the most rewarding part of my job and I relish the constant challenge of unlocking faster growth in a secure way - the partnerships we form with our management teams is always central to making that possible.

I’ve worked in private equity for over 30 years having first qualified as a Chartered Accountant at PwC in Manchester, working alongside a variety of local businesses. Before that, I graduated with a BSc joint honours in Computer Science and Accounting from Manchester University where I remain an honorary teaching fellow. I’m a past Chairman of the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) and remain a passionate advocate of the positive social and economic benefits that private capital brings to the wider community.
